The Ceilidh Place started life as a modest café, but now encompasses a hotel, bunkhouse, bookshop, small gig venue, café/bar & restaurant space. It’s a foursquare pit stop for tourists & walkers, who pack in for breakfasts of scrambled eggs, daytime snacks (hoummos, olives & sun-dried tomatoes with bread, for example) & lunchtime fillers including sandwiches, salads, burgers & plates of Loch Broom prawns with aïoli. The adjacent restaurant area has a more formal feel, with local artwork on its white walls & a dinner menu that might promise starters such as roast pear, walnut & Strathdon Blue cheese salad, then lamb & heather ale casserole, followed by chocolate & orange mousse for dessert. Wines start at £3.40 a glass, & there are bottled ales from the local An Teallach Brewery.
