An Cala Ciùin is a space in the heart of picturesque Tobermory, where foodies and those who enjoy great flavour, excellent service and a calm, relaxing setting can gather. The team here are driven to create a journey for guests, one that they can go on to experience the very best of sensory delights and fine dining, with some of the best flavours available. Once you step inside this restaurant, you'll find that you're hugged in a welcoming embrace by the team, and feel at ease with the soft lighting, luxury furnishings and stunning views of the nearby harbour. The restaurant's kitchen is led by head chef Ross Caithness, and doors are open from Wednesday through to Saturday, between midday and 2.30pm for lunch service, and again in the evening from 5.30 until 10pm.
The tasting menu is a great way to try everything that the menu has to offer. Begin with snacks of Tobermory fish smoked salmon tarts with crystal 'bread', sea herbs and crab, before enjoying a dish of Isle of Mull langoustine with a duck fat brioche, thermidor and caviar. Next up, you'll enjoy the braised squid with fennel, chilli and shellfish bisque, and then the steamed cod with Inverlussa mussels, buttermilk and parsley. The Glengorm beef sirloin comes with Jerusalem artichoke, carrot and truffle, before an Isle of Mull venison kebab with mushroom, burnt onion and pickled root vegetables. Finishing off, you'll try the Ledaig Sour, and an 80% dark chocolate brownie with raspberry, and a white chocolate and vermouth sorbet. There is also an impressive a la carte menu, a set treat of five courses, a wine list that makes for excellent pairings, and some tasty puddings.
