The Bull's Head is a gorgeous little pub and hotel in Hale Barns is a wonderful place to enjoy an evening or warm summer's day in the leafy suburbs of South Manchester. Just off J6 and the M56, and a few minutes from Manchester Airport, you'll find this charming pub that is also home to 21 en-suite rooms. Nicky heads up the kitchen team, and alongside their guidance, the chefs create delicious dishes and serve them with pride to guests, whether in the restaurant, bar or beer garden.
The menu begins with bar nibbles like beer battered onion rings with a dijon mustard mayonnaise, Cumberland cocktail sausages and some Yorkie pud dippers. When you've had a chance to decide what you fancy for your meal, pick from starters include the chicken liver pate with toasted bloomer slices and fruit chutney, the gambas pil pil dish of peeled king prawns in a chilli and garlic oil, and a classic French onion soup topped with a toasted gruyere crouton. For your main, enjoy the pub classic of hunter's chicken, a fresh grilled fillet that has been topped with bacon, bourbon BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese and a seasonal side salad with chunky chips. Other pub classic favourites include the beer battered fish and chips with mushy peas, and a homity pie made with spinach, onion, crispy pastry, peas how you like them, and your choice of potatoes, with lashings of gravy. There are plenty of plant based or vegetarian dishes to choose from, too, including the no 'meatball' linguine and goat's cheese and fig tart. On the side enjoy some truffle and grana padano fries or classic beer battered onion rings.
