The Bottle is a charismatic neighbourhood deli and wine bar in Newquay, inspired by the founders’ many trips across the channel. Adorned with pastel colours both outside and in, the bar has a lovely cosy feel, perfect for whiling away warm summer evenings. Although the wine is primarily French, plenty of the produce used in the food is native. As such, you might find yourself sipping Muscadet while snacking on British ‘nduja. Aside from food and wine, you'll find a great selection of aperitif-style cocktails, including the bar’s signature ‘vergroni’. Whether you’re looking for a quick snack and glass of wine or full-on celebratory feast, The Bottle is well-stocked for any situation.
Start off your evening with one of the aperitif cocktails on offer, such as the French quarter (bourbon, elderflower liqueur, rosemary, lemon, soda), Normandy flower (calvados, elderflower lemon, tonic) or French negroni (Pampelle liquor, London dry gin, Knightor white vermouth). You can also sample the various spritzes for an extra celebratory sip. As you’ll find at The Bottle’s sister bar in Falmouth, The Orgia, there is a short but varied selection of primarily French wines by the glass, bottle or litre. These offer the perfect accompaniment to the various snacking boards and small plates available here.
If you just need something to nibble with your drink, you can enjoy olives with lemon, smoked roasted almonds or a sourdough bread basket with optional crispy bacon butter. Slightly larger snacks feature more salty delights, including pickled anchovies, sardines with sourdough and the playfully named ‘Snack Sebastien’ (sea salt crisps, olives, guindilla peppers, salted anchovies and paprika). Those visiting The Bottle for a more substantial meal, however, are offered the most choice, with options including the delicious Basque bun: chorizo sausages, rocket, red peppers, lemon aioli and melted manchego in a brioche bun).
