The Bonnie Beastie is in Forres, a small town just outside the Cairngorms National Park in North East Scotland. It combines a relaxed bar with a more formal dining room. The menu covers a wide range of cuisines while retaining a Scottish influence.
Starters include haggis, neeps and tatties, and cullen skink. There’s also monkfish scampi, chicken liver pate and soup of the day. Mains are equally as focussed and feature a chicken and haggis tower served with buttery mashed potatoes, slow braised Scottish lamb shank and fish and chips. Vegetarian options are a sweetcorn and chickpea burger, vegetable balti and a feta and red pepper quiche.
The lunch menu comprises light bites, sandwiches and Beastie bowls. Foraged mushrooms on sourdough, goats cheese bruschetta and baked brie are the light lunch options. Sandwich fillings include fish fingers, honey roast ham and grilled cheese. You can also choose from a smoked salmon bagel and a croque monsieur. Those after something a bit extra can order the likes of mac n cheese with a shallot crumb or Sriracha fries.
The Bonnie Beastie also offers a festive menu. Two courses from this are £24 and three are £28. The starters feature creamy garlic mushrooms and smoked salmon and dill pate. For mains, there’s a slow cooked beef brisket, roast turkey breast Desserts include sticky toffee pudding and apple, cranberry and ginger crumble.
The drinks menu is headlined by a range of cocktails, many of which are originals. Options here are a salted caramel espresso martini, a Spey 75 (gin, elderflower liquer and prosecco) and a winter sun margarita (tequila, Aperol, cointreau, lime and sugar).
