Perched on the side of the loch, La Vista at Cameron House offers relaxed, family-friendly dining with water views and a warm atmosphere. To the left you’ll find the main dining room where guests are free to dine from the a la carte menu, while over to the right there’s more of a lounge set-up with comfortable clusters of armchairs and sofas pulled in around low-lying tables, perfect for an afternoon coffee or an early evening catch up with friends over drinks.
You don’t have to be staying at the hotel to take advantage of La Vista, and both small and large groups can be accommodated in the dining room, which is bright and airy thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows on two sides of the space. Adding to the contemporary feel is the New England style décor which blends reds, whites and blues in the upholstery details with seafaring memorabilia and shiplap walls.
The menu is centred around please-all Italian plates, like traditional pizzas and pasta dishes. The speciality is the wood fired pizzas which come out hot and puffed up from the oven which you can catch a glimpse of by peering into the semi-open kitchen. Toppings on these include a classic Margherita made with mozzarella and fresh basil; a Putanesca of capers, olives, anchovies and mozzarella; and a Calzone Montanaro where mozzarella, olives, grilled courgette, aubergine and artichoke are baked inside the pizza dough. Desserts include cannoli, affogato as well as a tiramisu.
There are also main courses from the grill like grilled swordfish and 8oz fillet steak, and porchetta with cacio e pepe-whipped potato. Little ones are very welcome and can be catered for with smaller portions, and there's a selection of aperitivo cocktails on offer, as well as digestives for a post-meal drink.
