After a relaunch in 2019 by Mother India, The Landsdowne reopened its doors in Glasgow to showcase beautiful interiors, complete with plenty of cosy booths and long dining tables. This popular restaurant is open each day of the week for lunch through to dinner service, and located on Lansdowne Crescent. In a basement setting, The Landsdowne feels warm and welcoming, with a conservatory style space at the back, named The Glasshouse.
If you're dining with quite a few others, you should try the Indian street food dishes, which are selections of Delhi and Mumbai favourites that are meant for sharing. Choose between the paneer and bullet chilli pakora, fried crispy cauliflower in a honey chilli sauce, and crispy, deep fried onion bhajis. Other delicious Indian street food dishes include the aloo tikka, ginger chilli fish pakora and salt and pepper chicken. The tandoori and grill options include a plate of grilled lamb chops that are inspired from street markets of Old Delhi, that have been marinated in the chef's ground spices, with rice, salad, and a delicious sauce. For vegetarian and vegan options, try the spinach and broccoli with roasted almonds – a dish made with garlic flavoured spinach gravy, roasted almonds and cream.
For total comfort, order from the selection of old Glasgow favourites. Try the dak bungalow butter chicken, or lamb karahi made with the best cuts of diced lamb legs, cooked in kadhai masala with peppers, onions and roasted cherry tomatoes. There are some great fish and seafood options, including Bombay seafood curry and king prawn achari with pickled marinated prawns cooked in an onion and tomato masala gravy, garnished with fresh limes.
