Located inside the South Lodge Hotel just outside of Horsham, The Billiard Bar is a sophisticated watering hole serving a wide selection of premium spirits, cocktails and wines, along with a versatile all-day food menu. So, whether you’re after a light bite for lunch, a relaxed supper in the evening or an expertly-mixed cocktail, The Billiard Bar is suited to a wealth of dining and drinking occasions.
The space actually dates back to 1873 when it was built as a billiard room for the original house. When the house became a hotel in 1985, the room was used as a private dining suite for weddings and meetings, right up until 2008 when it was redesigned as a bar. Complete with wood-panelled walls and a beautiful architectural light fixture hanging from the ceiling, its distinctive décor blends the room's interesting heritage with the trends and style of bar-goers today.
The bar and lounge food menu includes a range of snacks, small plates and more substantial mains, from toasties and pizzas to fish and chips and bao buns. Examples of dishes include teriyaki chicken and cashew nut salad, pork belly bao buns, a Monterey Jack cheeseburger and lemon and herb butter lobster. A range of teas and coffees, fruit juices and soft drinks are also served throughout the day.
The cocktail menu is designed to take guests on a journey through the history of South Lodge hotel, and includes both classic and lesser-known creations. Alongside the likes of a Negroni and Gin Martini, you’ll also find more adventurous options such as a Sailor’s Dream, which mixes spiced rum, citrus, cranberry and passion fruit. These are inspired by the original proprieter of South Lodge, a dedicated botanist who travelled the world. Elsewhere, a large selection of Champagne and English sparkling, wines, beers and spirits completes the offering.
