The Bear Inn is a boutique hotel, pub and restaurant in Bath. Its decor is strongly influenced by the city’s Georgian heyday, meaning the rooms feature four poster beds and the dining area is adorned with portraits and rich leather furniture.
The food menu reflects the pub setting. Bar snacks are ideal for sharing and include pork belly bites, Scotch egg with mustard mayonnaise and turmeric fried onions. Larger starters take the form of the soup of the day, devilled whitebait with tartare sauce, Buffalo chicken wings and wild mushroom parfait. There’s also three sharing starters: a whole baked Camembert, a charcuterie board and a selection of vegan snacks, including cauliflower wings.
The main course options will offer something to suit most tastes. Pub classics are represented by the likes of cider-battered fish and chips, braised lamb shoulder shepherd’s pie and highland venison sausage and mash. Vegetarian options include, cauliflower Thai green curry and a charred broccoli Caesar salad. Rounding out the a la carte menu are a range of desserts, such as lemon meringue cheesecake, sticky toffee pudding and dark chocolate brownie.
On Sundays a roast is served. The meat options are chicken, beef or porchetta, while non meat eaters are served a vegan Wellington. All roasts come with roast potatoes, mixed kale, maple-roasted carrots, mulled red cabbage and a Yorkshire pudding.
The Bear Inn also shows live sport, including Premier League football and Six Nations rugby.
