Dating back to the 1800s, The Gainsborough Bath Spa encompasses two Grade II listed buildings featuring distinguished Georgian and Victorian facades, nestled in the heart of the World Heritage Site.
You can indulge in a delightful dining experience at The Gainsborough, where a revamped menu takes inspiration from global flavours. The Gainsborough Brasserie offers a stylish and relaxed setting, showcasing Georgian architecture, original artwork, and an impressive wine wall, alongside a concept that champions local suppliers and farmers and the freshest seasonal produce.
Whether you're a guest of the hotel or simply visiting for dinner, start your meal with a glass of something from the meticulously curated wine list, which your server will be more than happy to help you with. For starters, there are options such as the 'dancing prawns' which are signature crispy hot wok’d prawns coated with a secret house-made citrusy aioli emulsion and sprinkled with crystalised walnuts, or you could try the cream of wild mushrooms which is made with a blend of porcini, ceps and portobello mushrooms, served with arancini and drizzled with truffle oil.
For mains, the restaurant knows its stuff when it comes to speciality pasta, so you might want to plunge a fork into something like Yukibana’s carbonara of the sea, which is made with salmon, scallop, spotted shrimps, salmon roe and crab sticks, tossed in a creamy egg yolk sauce. We like the sound of the slow cooked free-range chicken with fragrant turmeric and chilli coconut gravy, as well as the market fish which is served with pink fir potatoes, caponata and salsa verde.
If you prefer a more traditional experience, you can also join the team for daily afternoon tea in the beautiful canvas room. And, as daytime moves into evening, the Gainsborough Bar comes alive, serving expertly crafted cocktails and a selection of beverages.
