Each day of the week, The Beach Deck swings open its doors to customers who want to eat inside, or enjoy the great British weather. If you're looking for somewhere to truly relax, with a delicious plate of food and glass of good wine, The Beach Deck is a great option. Located on Eastbourne's seafront, this charming cafe and restaurant is surrounded by the noise of the waves lapping up on the beach. It's no surprise, really, that the most popular dish is the fresh cod and chips. All of the restaurant's fish is locally sourced by Southern Head Fishing Co, which is a local fishing fleet based in Eastbourne. You can't get more local than that! The meat is also traceable to farms nearby, being sourced from Gunne Butchers, based in Bexhill-On-Sea.
For breakfast, enjoy the Beach Deck favourites of the classic with smoked streaky bacon rashers, two Cumberland sausages, two eggs your way, grilled tomato, mushroom and beans, and with white or brown toast. Other options include the chorizo hash, eggs Benedict and halloumi with eggs and avocado. There are light bite options, too, and they include a streaky bacon bap, crunchy ginger nut granola and pastries.
Main dishes are served from 12pm, and begin with several specials. There's teriyaki and ginger chicken, salmon or halloumi, which comes with white sushi rice, edamame, cherry tomatoes, red cabbage, teriyaki dressing and spicy mayo, along with spring onion, almonds and sesame seeds. Another special includes the grilled lamb kofte kebab with a salad, red cabbage slaw and pistachios. If you want a dish that's been caught fresh from the South Coast, enjoy the fresh battered cod, deep fried scampi, or moules frites of mussels cooked in their shells with white wine, cream and garlic and onion (and of course, plenty of skinny fries to mop up the leftover sauce).
