About

The Auldgirth Inn, with a history spanning five centuries, is located at crossroads that were popular with travellers travelling through the Nith valley. Over the years, it has been a silent observer of evolving technologies, from the era when people traversed solely by foot or horseback, through the emergence of coaches and railway lines, and today, where most people drive by car.

The Inn is aware that many influential people may have visited its establishment over the years, and one of the most famous regulars was Scotland's national bard, Robert Burns, whose song Auld Lang Syne is sung worldwide on New Years (or Hogmanay). The Inn that Burns visited wouldn't have been all that different to the one that you can visit today, as Burns visited in the late 1700s and the major refurbishment the building went through following that, was in 1804.

When it comes to food, you'll no doubt be impressed by the offerings at The Auldgirth Inn. For starters in the bar or garden area, choose from the French onion soup with cheese on toast, or the famous haggis scotch egg with garlic aioli, and the west coast mussels on sourdough. Starters in the restaurant part of the building include Hills & Harbor cured Loch Duarte salmon with horseradish, and a chicken liver parfait with blood orange and brioche. Mains include chive gnocchi with tomato and asparagus, and pork belly fillet with king scallops, haggis, bone marrow and carrot. So whether you're looking for something resembling traditional pub food, or more upmarket, you’ll find your perfect meal at The Auldgirth Inn. Desserts include the strawberry custard tart, and 70% chocolate souffle praline with miso caramel.
