In the aptly named Brewery Quarter, you’ll find The Alchemist: a haven of theatrical cocktails and global sharing menus. Like the bar’s other branches, The Alchemist Cheltenham is well-equipped to cater to many different occasions, from quietly romantic dates to birthday blowouts. There are also lots of experiences happening at any given time, including bottomless brunch, masterclasses and more.
The star of the show at The Alchemist is the cocktails. Each one is carefully crafted with not only excellent ingredients but also a visual element. The cherry Poppins, for example, comes topped with a bubble of cherry fog. The caramelised rum punch meanwhile, a mix of Appleton Estate rum, Grand Marnier, Bristol syrup, watermelon, lime and pineapple, arrives on fire. Other intriguing additions include vanilla cola foam, smoke, a dark fruits bath bomb, apple boba, coco pops and even sweet garlic vodka. More standard fare, such as margaritas and daiquiris, are also available, made to a similarly tip-top standard. Those who aren’t drinking can unjoy a creative mocktail, for a significantly lower price. Alongside the cocktails, there are also reds, whites, roses, sparkling, beers and more to choose from.
The food at The Alchemist matches the cocktails: creative and punchy. Kick things off with pork crackling, chorizo and cheddar doughballs or nori crisps, before moving on to a starter such as gyoza, calamari or popcorn chicken. When it comes to mains, there are burgers like Korean fried chicken, crispy halloumi or a double BBQ patty. Don’t miss the smoking boards, featuring chargrilled chicken with harissa and grilled peppers, miso-glazed salmon with sticky sauce and pickled slaw. Finish things off with a decadent dessert like churros, sticky toffee pudding or a cotton candy baked Alaska.
Brunch at The Alchemist is well-known, featuring stacks of pancakes, wings, waffles, fry-ups and, of course, cocktails. There are set brunch menus to save you and your guests money while you enjoy the food and drink.
