Swingers West End

Almost as much fun as playing a round of crazy golf at this sister to the Swingers City original is watching others screw up. It’s doubtful whether premium mixed drinks will improve your game, but they’re available to players with reservations and drop-in spectators alike at the four bars. After a Fairway To Heaven (a pink grapefruit gin, apricot and Earl Grey Sour), a pricey Caipirinha or Butter Fingers (a butter-washed whiskey and maple Old Fashioned), you can unleash your inner Rory McIlroy on either of two fiendishly tricky nine-hole courses. The venue – restyled as a 1920s faded English resort – takes up the entire first floor of defunct department store BHS. Loud disco classics make for a party vibe that’s ideal for office bashes or an alt night out. Post-golf munchies are assuaged by street-food outlets; Breddos’ tacos and tostadas, Patty & Bun burgers and Hackney Gelato ices lead the pack.

There are two Swingers sites in the capital: one in the City and this one in the West End, located just a stone’s throw from Oxford Circus. Step out of the hustle and bustle of London’s busiest high street and into a 1920s British seaside setting where plenty of food, drinks and fun awaits. 

Once you’ve potted all nine holes, head over to one of its awesome vendors to refuel with some of the best street food in town. Discover top grub from the likes of Patty & Bun, Breddos Tacos, Pizza Pilgrims, Jefferies Sandwiches and Crosstown doughnuts.  For the super hungry, Patty & Buns’s Ari Burger filled with a beef patty, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickled onions, ketchup and smokey P&B mayo is the one for you. Don’t sleep on Breddos Tacos vibrant range including baja fish, masa fried chicken, cochinita pork pibil and smoked sweet potato. Of course, you can’t go wrong with a slice of pizza, especially when it’s by the connoisseurs themselves Pizza Pilgrims. Finish with something sweet from Crosstown’s epic selection of doughnuts.  

A generous drinks selection is available at the main bar, or you can order beverages while you play your way around the course. Cocktails include all the classics, golf-themed drinks, shots and frozen cocktails. Look out for The Swinger, its signature G&T made with Tanqueray No. TEN, Double Dutch tonic, grapefruit and a pink peppercorn twist. Wine, Champagne, beer and cider are also up for grabs, as well as a selection of soft drinks.
