Sukhothai is proud to have one of the country's most exceptional Thai food experts at the helm – the head chef and owner, Ban Kaewkraikhot. Ban’s remarkable journey in the culinary world began with a thriving restaurant in Bangkok, where she honed her skills for an impressive 8 years. Seeking new horizons, she ventured to the UK, where she continued to showcase her culinary prowess as the head of a renowned Yorkshire restaurant for an additional 4 years.
In 2002, Ban Kaewkraikhot brought her passion and expertise to Chapel Allerton, opening the original Sukhothai restaurant. The recipe for Sukhothai's success is blended up from a commitment to delivering super-attentive service, an imaginative yet authentic menu that captures the essence of Thai cuisine, and a dedication to sourcing the freshest and most amazing Thai ingredients, flown into their kitchens every week. Sukhothai's excellence hasn't gone unnoticed. They’ve earned a regular place in the prestigious Good Food Guide and Harden's.
When it comes to food, Sukhothai offers a journey through Thai flavours. From fragrant green curries to fiery red ones, their extensive menu showcases the rich diversity of Thai cuisine. Freshly sourced ingredients are expertly crafted into traditional dishes, ensuring that each bite is a burst of authentic taste. For a refreshing starter, why not try a unique take on the traditional som tum salad - a shredded mango salad with chilli, lime juice, tomato, shallots and cashew nuts, topped with the addition of mango sorbet, for a zesty and refreshing spin on the Thai classic.
The Sukhothai platter is an assortment of their guests' favourites, including satay chicken, chicken spring peanut sauce, a sweet and sour vegetable relish and a freshly made sweet chilli sauce.
