Dastaan is an Indian restaurant like no other, located on the outskirts of Leeds. Here, you’ll always find a menu full with dishes that will transport you back to the buzzing streets of India. From the moment you step through doors, you’ll be greeted by spectacular interiors that include eye-catching artwork and soft lighting to create an atmosphere of pure elegance. On the menu, you’ll find a range of dishes that are authentically Indian, with creative twists here and there. The dishes at Dastaan are prepared using the very finest of ingredients available.
Why not try the five course tasting menu, that comes with an optional wine pairing, for the ultimate Indian indulgence. Enjoy roasted garlic and palak shorba before a first course of beetroot tikka made with tadka yoghurt, mustard leaves and curry seeds. Then, try the duck and chicken seekh kebab with apple murabba, followed by a Malabar prawn curry filled with coconut and keralan spices. For dessert, order the gulab jamun — deep fried dough balls made from milk solids and semolina that are soaked in a fragrant syrup.
Of course, all the classics you’d expect in a British Indian restaurant are on the menu. You’ll find vegetable samosas, chicken lollipops with tomato garlic chutney and assorted pickle trays to enjoy before your main course. There are mains of chicken tikka, malvani fish curry and bhindi do pyaza. There are many bread and rice sides to order, including the butter roti, chilli garlic naan and saffron potato. Last but not least are the desserts, we’d order the fruity falooda and basundi, a pistachio kulfi and chocolate and chilli brownie with salted caramel ice cream. What a wonderful time you’ll have at Dastaan!
