With Shepherd’s Bush’s music venues minutes away, the bar at boutique hotel K West is popular for post-gig bashes and DJ house parties (Fridays and Saturdays until 2am). A mix of media, music industry and TV types dig craft beers and picklebacks, while West London bling is big on bubbles, spicy Margaritas and whiskey-based fixes such as Misty Affair (Maker’s Mark, coffee liqueur and orange bitters). A recent makeover has warmed up the previously sterile space, with grainy shots of Bowie and Jagger referencing the venue’s past as a recording studio – the perfect backdrop to a ‘glam rock afternoon tea’. The adjoining mezzanine restaurant is MOR rather than thrash metal, with a menu that runs from burgers, hot dogs, NY-style sandwiches and salads to butternut squash ravioli with sage and black truffle butter or sea bass with creamed leeks in shellfish sauce.
