Tucked away in the heart of Brighton, Apiary is a rather unique all-day bar and restaurant, where everything from the drinks to the a la carte have been inspired by bees. Founded and run by two beekeepers, there’s honey and hive inspiration around every corner, from the hexagonal-print bar to the golden colour palette that shines through the restaurant. A relaxed yet refined spot, it’s the perfect place to drop in at any point of the day, whether you fancy a decadent weekend breakfast or an afterwork drink.
There’s a couple of options available when it comes to dining at Apiary. Choose from the a la carte, with a selection of snacks, small plates and desserts which includes a selection of mixed nuts, marinated olive and flatbreads with butterbean hummus or whipped feta if you’re looking for a couple of nibbles. For heartier plates, try the likes of oak smoked salmon with chilli shallot and crispy capers, cheese, leek and mustard croquettes or Apiary fried cauliflower with fermented chilli honey.
Alternatively, a ‘Taste of Honey’ set menu, invites diners to explore the very best of Apiary’s dishes, with an optional mead pairing for a truly unique experience. Delve into the likes of anchovies with roasted romero pepper and lemon, or goats cheese crostini with fresh fig and garlic honey to start, with black tiger prawns with guajillo and mulato chillies, and crispy new potatoes with a confit garlic emulsion to follow. End your evening with an indulgent chocolate fudge topped with honeycomb, of course.
You won’t find your typical wine lists here. Instead, Apiary offers an array of meads, with sparkling and still options, available in sweet and dry options, depending on your personal taste. Not quite sure what to order? A mead flight is also on offer, where you can try three taster measures.
