This scruffy hybrid venue, a bit pub, a bit club, is party promoter Rob Star’s version of an East End boozer for the 21st century. Yes, there’s live footie on widescreen TVs, along with quiz nights & Sunday roasts, but there are also club nights such as Unskinny Bop & new Karaoke Cokey. ‘Fantastic food, fine drinks & fun’ is the deal, or so goes the legend on the outside wall. The regulars are hip & happy refugees from Shoreditch looking for like-minded music lovers, as well as a vintage pew & a cold bottle of lager to call their own. Plans for a dining room upstairs are afoot. In the meantime, burgers, basic pub grub & two-for-one pizzas on Mondays are about the size of it.
