SPICE LOUNGE LIVERPOOL IS CLOSED PERMANENTLY
Tucked in one corner of Liverpool’s Albert Dock – home to Britain’s largest group of Grade I-listed buildings – the Spice Lounge brings regional Indian flavours to the city’s waterfront. Through the exposed brick archway, you’ll discover a venue of impressive dimensions with glitzy chandeliers, dark woods, burnished pillars and pot plants aplenty on both ground and first floors. The menu is also sizeable, highlighting recipes from across India. A starter of anari jhingha featured meaty prawns marinated in garlic, ginger and lemon oil, in a copious piquant sweet and sour sauce. Next, lamb suganda evoked the flavours of southern India with a rich sauce enlivened by fresh dill. Ideal accompaniments of fiery mushroom hara, zingy okra bhindi bahar, and a lemon rice with mustard seeds and cashews, were tempered by a fresh pineapple raita. In all, the Lounge is a welcome addition to the Dock’s delights.
