Welcome to the lovely Sondes Arms, where the passion of good food shines through. Nestled within a picturesque 16th-century coaching inn, the team offers a laid-back ambience and takes pride in being a family-friendly eatery, specialising in serving classic homemade pub grub.
The Sondes Arms beloved carvery is a true crowd-pleaser, featuring impeccably cooked meats, steaming hot fresh vegetables, the creamiest cauliflower cheese, and homemade Yorkshire puddings perfect for soaking up their rich meaty gravy. Available all day on Sundays and Wednesday evenings, we highly recommend making a reservation to ensure that they don't miss the chance to serve you.
Starters kick off with a baked camembert with a toasted baguette, plum and apple chutney, a dish of salt and pepper shredded chicken with sweet chilli drizzle and loaded nachos with salsa, guacamole, jalapeno peppers, cheddar cheese and sour cream. Mains range from beer battered Atlantic cod and a homemade curry of the day served with steamed rice, mango chutney and a crispy poppadom, to hunters chicken, vegetable lasagne with garlic ciabatta and katsu chicken.
Served up on the side are a great selection of dishes - from coleslaw, cheesy chips and beer battered onion rings, to dressed house salad and garlic bread. The delightful afternoon tea comes with a choice of freshly prepared finger sandwiches, homemade scones, clotted cream, jam, fresh strawberries and a delicate mix of miniature cakes and patisseries.
If you want to do something a little different, perhaps you'll book one of the courtyard igloos. Constructed in the secluded courtyard, each igloo holds up to six guests and is the perfect place to wind down and take a few hours to recharge.
