In the Delta, where food is straightforward, meals are communal, and the door is always open, that’s where the idea for Slim Chickens originated. The company’s journey began with a simple goal – to bring a touch of that southern hospitality to a quick, casual setting, while dishing out fresh handmade food to the communities that they serve. It all kicked off with a craving for a speedy, quality meal – fresh chicken, cooked to order. Realising that there was a gap to fill, Slim Chickens got things going where many startups do, right from their garage. Through tireless testing and a clear vision, the first Slim Chickens restaurant opened in Fayetteville, Arkansas in 2003. Now, after over a decade and serving thousands of happy customers, the chain can be found all over the world with Slim Chickens even making its way to Cardiff city centre.
There's something pretty special about Slim Chickens’ hand breaded British chicken tenders, fresh Buffalo wings, and homemade dipping sauces that keep their dedicated fans coming back, time and time again. The buttermilk tender meals range from three pieces to seven, and there are also oatmilk marinated tenders for those who want a plant based option. There are also some pretty delicious sandwiches on offer, like the chicken in Buffalo sauce, lettuce, pickles, fried onions and blue cheese sauce, and Slim’s salad with fresh chicken, Monterey Jack cheese, crispy fried onions, croutons, carrot, cucumber and coleslaw and your choice of dressing.
Signature sides include fried pickles, coleslaw, mac and cheese, seasoned fries, additional tenders, wings, Buffalo blue loaded fries, crispy fried onions, Texas toast (which is similar to garlic bread), and extra sauce. The hand spun shakes are pretty legendary, and include chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, Oreo, caramel, popcorn, Lotus Biscoff, Cadbury Flake, Terry's Chocolate Orange, and occasional specials.
