If you’re in town for the footie, then you’ll be pleased to know that Trafford Hall Hotel is little more than a 10-minute walk away. It’s also easily accessible from the city centre and a 20-minute drive to Manchester airport. That’s tick, tick, tick for location!
Football aside, there are plenty of reasons to visit this four-star boutique hotel, including the food. Whether it’s a birthday, special occasion or a midweek treat, the Signature Steakhouse and Grill is a reliable option for, you guessed it, steak, along with a selection of classic and comforting dishes.
Choose from one of the eponymous 28-day dry aged heritage steaks, including sirloin, t-bone, ribeye, rump, and fillet, all of which are served with triple cooked chips (what else?), confit vine tomato, grilled flat cap mushroom and homemade onion rings. Steaks range between £20-29, and for that price you really do get the works. It’s worth mentioning that all steaks are sourced from grass-fed and free-range herds including Aberdeen Angus, Blue Gray, Galloway and Hereford.
If you have a hankering for a burger instead, there are six different options on the menu. The Signature Burger sees two premium beef burgers topped with smoked applewood cheddar and caramelised onion chutney, while other variations include blue cheese and bacon, honey bbq, classic cheese and a veggie offering. To start, choose from a range of hors d’ oevres including pea and feta croquettes or salmon tartare, and do take a look at the dessert menu if you have room, for a lemon tart, chocolate fondant and vanilla cheesecake. You can’t beat a classic.
The comforting nature of the food is matched by warm interiors, cosy lighting and comfortable seating. While the wine list offers a limited but crowd-pleasing selection and won’t set you back more than £22 for a bottle of the good stuff.
