Shears Yard is an independent kitchen and bar tucked away just off The Calls, making it only a short walk from Leeds train station. Located in a stunning 18th-century building that was formally owned by a rope and canvas manufacturers, the simple yet stylish decor consists of exposed brick, poured concrete floors and understated decor with hanging light bulbs dangling above the tables.
Offering a relaxed fine dining experience serving modern British food, this is the ideal place to come for special occasions when you don't want to splash too much cash. The ever-changing menus are developed using seasonal and locally sourced produce, inspired by both classic and unusual flavour combinations.
Enjoy a range of seasonal dishes paired with premium wines, craft beers and cocktails. The set menu offers two and three courses with light starters, delicious mains and spectacular desserts to choose from. If you are looking for a little more, the tasting menu has an array of dishes to try, including things like fish oysters in a yuzu kosho hot sauce; teriyaki glazed sirloin cannon; and cauliflower leaf and spinach pakora.
Come the weekend you're able to feast on the renowned Sunday roast. Choose from a selection of roasted meat such as slow cooked pork shoulder, roast sirloin beef or the vegetarian option, which is a spinach and blue cheese crumble. All of the options are served with crispy roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables and of course, a Yorkshire pudding. It's not a Sunday roast without one in these parts. For those who are not in the mood for a roast, Shears Yard also offers a three-course Sunday menu with a selection of starters, main course and desserts to choose from including fish, steak and vegetarian dishes.
Shears Yard can be hired for corporate events, product launches, photoshoots, parties and celebrations. The bar area is also available for low key drinking events, perfect for birthdays, special occasions or an intimate gathering with friends.
