Scott's Bistro is a small restaurant that you'll find in the market town of Kirkham. This charming, little restaurant in Lancashire blends both traditional and more modern British dishes to leave you with the most satisfied of appetites. Each of the dishes are made using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients, and are created from scratch in the restaurant's kitchen. The menu does change each month, so that the dishes can reflect only the very best tastes of what is available. “We personally feel that Lancashire is the best county in Britain in terms of produce, from excellent meat, an amazing variety of local cheeses and fresh fish from a famous fishing town,” says the team behind Scott’s Bistro.
The lunch menu is available from midday until 3pm every day except from Sunday, and includes a selection of lighter main courses. Some of the options include sliced calves liver served with sherried onions, potato puree, buttered greens and crispy bacon crumbs, along with the chickpea and wild mushroom stew topped with sauteed wild mushrooms and peppery rocket, served with a humble bread roll.
The evening menu begins with starters of breaded croquettes filled with cauliflower, cumin, chilli, and cheddar, served with a chilli ketchup, along with pan fried pheasant breast served on a beetroot puree with carrot crisps, and garlic and chilli king prawns. Mains include pan fried fillet of hake on a bed of crushed new potatoes with steamed mussels and a light curried veloute, along with venison haunch parmentier served pink, on a base of slow cooked minced venison, potato puree, served with red wine jus and green beans. When it's time for dessert, try the berry sorbet sundae or spiced apple crumble slice.
