A Clapham/Battersea hang-out of the old school, Scoffers has long been cherished by its followers. This sweet, reliable bistro has allowed food fashions largely to pass it by, sticking to its
strengths & cooking what the regulars want to eat. Customers sit in the bohemian, terracotta-coloured rooms or the charming conservatory (complete with enormous fig tree) to eat omelettes,
steaks, fish pie & fajitas – or perhaps something slightly more ambitious from the dinner menu, such as confit duck leg with chicory – & have a natter over a glass of wine. There’s a decent
selection of carafes, as well as a serviceable wine list. It’s all very gentle & civilised: just the place to rub shoulders with the gin & tonic brigade & enjoy a spot of brunch, lunch
or dinner.
