About
Handbag designer Alice Horlick, daughter of so-called City ‘Superwoman’ Nicola, is the chatelaine of this crowd-funded Clapham Junction ‘conceptual drinkery.’ Alice’s Wonderland is a crooner-sound tracked, cod-Victorian parlour – its whimsical decor, a well-considered curation of curios, knick-knacks, taxidermy and rag and bone booty. Drinks – inspired by Lewis Carroll’s verse The Walrus and the Carpenter, developed in conjunction with consultants Shaker & Co, are described as ‘artisanal hedgerow cocktails.’ Bitter Tear, for instance, offers a lighter take on a Negroni, adding rhubarb and rosehip cordial to Bols Genever, Carpano Antica and rhubarb bitters; meanwhile, dandelion and burdock, blood orange and grapefruit sherbet, Hendrick’s and sparkling Piquepoul Côte de Mas, together, pull off Such A Trick, while greengage liqueur and stinging nettle cordial informs Kamm & Sons-based Of Cabbages and Kings. Oysters, lobster rolls and cheese boards are among the limited range of snacks available.
