At this private family-owned hotel, the gorgeous restaurant is adorned with colourful pictures of foliage, making for a pleasant atmosphere for a winter meal. However come summer, you can enjoy the flowers for real in the outdoor terrace, filled with roses and herbs. The menu is a heady mix of classic European cooking and the fragrant cuisine of Persia. For those after the exotic, there’s an enticing mezze selection, including dolme cooked with pomegranate and herbs, and borani (yoghurt with spinach, onions and garlic), which can be followed up by Persian lamb stews and grilled kebabs. Traditionalists will be happier with peppered chicken breast with new potatoes, a classic boeuf bourguinon or grilled salmon with hollandaise sauce. There’s also afternoon tea on offer, for those midday hunger pangs.
