The popular Thai chain Rosa’s Thai is truly a force to be reckoned with, boasting over 30 stores across the UK from London to Birmingham, Cardiff, York and Leeds. This Wimbledon branch is the 30th restaurant to be added to its armour, and you can find it on Wimbledon Hill Road just a stone’s throw away from the station. For a little bit of a history lesson, Rosa’s Thai was originally set up by Saiphin Moore in Spitalfields in 2008, who wanted to bring dishes from her native Thailand to London via Hong Kong.
True to Rosa’s signature style, this Wimbledon post offers the same unfussy and relaxed dining experience as the rest of its restaurants, using authentic curry pastes made by a husband-and-wife team in the Huai Yod district, and pad Thai noodles from a third-generation family business.
The food menu is designed to be shared and features a mix of starters, noodles, curries, wok stars, salads, soups and sides. Start with Rosa’s homemade spring rolls served with a homemade sweet chilli sauce, or honey-marinated pork skewers with a homemade tamarind dipping sauce. Main dishes include a classic pad Thai, as well as drunken noodles, red and green Thai curries, stir-fried aubergine and a cashew stir-fry. For something a little lighter, opt for a papaya salad or tom yum soup.
A changing specials menu is also available, as well as gluten-free and kids' menus to ensure that everyone is taken care of. Discover plenty of Thai-inspired cocktails, including a coconut island daquiri and boozy Thai iced tea for something a little different. Guests can also choose from a selection of Thai iced drinks, wines, beers, whisky's and hot and cold drinks.
