If you're a Putney local on the hunt for a great neighbourhood restaurant, or from further afield with a penchant for delicious, fairly-priced steaks, Roxie is one to put on your list. A small, independent chain, Roxie was started by steak-enthusiasts Rich and Sue who were fed up with the lack of steak restaurants on the market with a neighbourhood feel, transparent messaging and decent price list.
Now, you'll find Roxie in Putney, Wimbledon and Earlsfield, and while each branch has its own unique character, they are united by a focus on creating tight-knit teams, the freshest, tastiest steaks and serving regulars in the best possible way.
As well as being passionate about meat, Rich and Sue have taken great care to create a beautiful cocktail menu and drinks selection, too. So, why not first off start your experience with a craft gin, expertly sourced wine (the Malbec from Mendoza is particular favourite) or fabulous cocktail, such as the Mango Passion Punch II which mixes white rum, passion fruit liqueur, mango and passion puree, lemon juice and lemonade. Delicious.
Onto the menu and while steaks are, of course, the focus, you'll find an impressive selection of dishes to keep you coming back time after time. The usual cuts on offer span sirloin, fillet, rump, ribeye and picanha, and are served with a selection of sauces. Choose between the likes of truffle mayo and homemade sriracha, as well as sides like purple slaw and creamy mash.
Another option is to dig into a burger; there are five available and from The Shoreditch with grilled chicken breast, homemade creamy buffalo sauce, purple slaw and crispy onions, to The Joburger with a Symplicity veggie patty, melted American cheese and caramelised onions, all are catered for.
Finally, when it comes to dessert, if you have a sweet tooth you might even argue we've saved the best til last. The Biscoff berry cheesecake, sticky toffee pudding and affogato all sound delicious, as does the Choc Mint Martini with chocolate vodka, white creme de cacao and creme de menthe.
