Tucked away down a flowery passageway opposite the gates of King’s College Chapel, Sharon Meijland’s humble but very healthy hideaway continues to blaze its own very distinctive trail for
vegetarian and vegan food in Cambridge. The world really is her larder, with lots of exotic ideas and flavours on show – from superb garlic breads and wonderfully fresh salads to Latvian potato
bake, Jamaican roti cups packed with banana, black turtle beans, roast sweet potato and spices or Indonesian gado-gado with brown rice and peanut sauce. Otherwise, specials boards list soups,
dishes of the day (vegan artichoke parcels with rice, say) and irresistible baked goodies such as Rainbow brownies, apple pie and a ’miracle cake’ with chestnuts, dates and walnuts. All wines,
beers and ciders are vegan and organic. Good for babies and youngsters. No bookings.
