About
The latest addition to Cambridge’s growing foodie hotspot in the town centre comes from the established local group, Cambscuisine. Unlike the group’s other restaurants, however, Smokeworks is an informal affair with a no-bookings policy and an American-style barbecue menu. Quality still impresses, mind – this isn’t fast food, but food that is ‘slow cooked, fast’. The Works is a smorgasbord featuring the signature sticky spare ribs and pulled pork/beef burger (as well as chicken wings, fries, beans, and spicy sausage) and is enough for two or three to share. The thick, frothy salted caramel milkshake with a shot of bourbon shouldn’t be missed either. Whether you’re occupying one of the intimate brick-lined booths in the basement or are happily ensconced in the industrial-chic ground-floor diner, a fun dial-for-service system means the chatty staff won’t forget you. Smokeworks is already a hit with students and groups looking for a casual night out.
