Green-fronted Quantro has been a fixture of central Harrogate’s casual restaurant scene since 2000 and remains a boon for the town with its flexible brasserie-style menus, cheery atmosphere and keen prices. Light bites and sharing platters go down well with local shoppers and office workers at lunchtime (think rocket smoothie with pear brûlée, cured salmon with beetroot salad or duck breast with braised cabbage), while the full menu pulls in lots of ideas and influences – from Whitby cod with sweet-and-sour fish soup, udon noodles and lime syrup to goats’ cheese and asparagus strudel with butternut squash risotto and tarragon butter sauce. To finish, try the locally famous sticky toffee pudding with crème fraîche. It’s worth keeping an eye out for fixed-price ‘Qu’ menus and early-bird deals too. Wines, beers and cocktails also do the business.
