A go-to venue for pan-Asian food in Harrogate, expect lacquered wood interiors, Japanese lattice screens and set tables. At the helm is Kenneth Poon (who made his name as head chef at the Oriental in the Dorchester in London) whose artful cooking leads guests on a culinary tour of the Far East.
Dishes include steamed scallops Hong Kong-style, with garlic spring onion and coriander, served with glass noodles, or beef Yum Neua; a Thai specialty of spicy rare-beef salad. Follow with Philippine-inspired prawn Calabasha or a classic Kung Po chicken from China’s Sichuan province. The wine list boasts complementary aromatic offerings, while there’s also plenty of Asian beer. Lunch is a total bargain, though prices aren’t so shy in the evening.
