Pulcinella opened its doors to locals back in 2001, situated in Cleveleys town centre, an area that lies between Blackpool and Fleetwood. The restaurant is in good hands with head chef Massimo Zampini and his team, who have created a menu that has been inspired by traditional and regional Italian cooking. The team, including Massimo, believe that the key to a great, authentic dining experience lies largely with the quality of ingredients that are used. So, it's no surprise that excellent ingredients are sourced locally. Like fresh seafood from Fleetwood, quality meats from Cumbria and some of the very best ingredients from Italy. There is suckling pig from Garstang, imported buffalo mozzarella and Conway mussels. So, you can bet that you'll enjoy only the very best meal at Pulcinella.
The menu begins with stuzzichini, a selection of marinated anchovy fillets, topped with ciabatta with tomatoes, garlic, olive oil and basil, and a wafer thin carta di musica bread. Next up, its the range of garlic pizza bread – with toppings that include mozzarella and caramelised onions, and red onion with chilli and tomato. Other starters to begin your meal with include the extra large prawns in their shell that have been pan fried with garlic and chilli, a soup of the day, chicken livers that have been sauteed with red wine, onion and chilli, and a slow cooked rack of pork ribs in a tangy sweet and sour sauce.
For your main, try the caciucco livornese, which is a rich fish stew with fresh mussels, king prawns, baby squid, clams and the fish of the day, all stewed with tomato, wine, garlic, onion and parsley, served with a wedge of bread and fries.
