Eating like a prince is the name of the game at this gaudy, opulent Iraqi restaurant – at least in terms of decor. A mixed crowd of rich Arabs, Russians & others traverse the high-gloss black floor, perch on ornate white-&-gold thrones & admire the huge tank of tropical fish built into the end wall. Familiar Middle Eastern big hitters such as grilled haloumi, falafel, hoummos & tabbouleh sit alongside kebabs & more unusual offerings including the special flame-grilled spiced quail or popular Iraqi lamb stews. Don’t miss the tanoor bread, cooked in a traditional coal-fired oven at the front of the restaurant. Note that Prince Gardens is teetotal: those who don’t want a ‘dry’ meal should take advantage of the restaurant’s takeaway service, & drink at home.
