Dating back to the beginning of the 18th century, this old brick and timber warehouse was originally used for storing tea and may have also been a brewery. Back in the 1970s it was relocated and
reconfigured, moving from a sawdust-strewn drinking den to a sprawling complex comprising a bar, function suite, grill and this spacious, family-friendly pizzeria on the second floor of the
building – tables on the balcony are at a premium. Around a dozen toppings are available, ranging from your average margherita and neapolitana to Peking duck, chicken tikka and a ‘meat feast’ of
spicy beef, chorizo, pepperoni and ham. The menu also takes in salads, pasta, a handful of Tex-Mex specialities (burritos, chilli con carne etc) and puds such as tiramisu. Pizzas are also served in
the Tavern Bar and the beer garden. Takeaways too.
