Located on Mill Lane near the Principality Stadium in downtown Cardiff, Pitch is a simple bar and eatery that prepares food with an emphasis on freshness. The restaurant, which has been around since the 2010s, serves up traditional Welsh cooking.
The building itself reflects its menu - imagine a modern simple space that pays tribute to its traditional origins. You'll see a lot of exposed wood, rustic seating, and historical Welsh crockery decorating the space. Yet there is an outdoor seating area, and the younger crowd and lively music keep this place from feeling dated.
There is a large drinks menu, with special attention given first to the wine and beers section. Following that, you'll find all the standard bar favourites like Mai Tais and Bloody Marys, but thirsty customers can also elect to get one of their pitchers - filled with fun options like the Glitter Royale with Prosecco, raspberry purée, peach schnapps, fresh raspberries, sparkles, and lemonade, or the giant Pornstar Pitcher with vodka, Passoa, passionfruit juice, vanilla syrup, lime, and shots of Prosecco. There are also mocktails available, for those who prefer the taste without the hangover.
The Pitch food menu is rooted in its standard Welsh favourites, broken up into Breakfast, Starters/Mains/Desserts, Sandwiches and Salads, Burgers, Sunday Roasts, and Sharing Boards. There's clear labeling and lots of options for the vegetarians, vegans, and gluten free members of the group, so they can also try out versions of the Welsh cooking. Some classics include the Welsh Rarebit served on a freshly sliced bloomer, the Welsh Sausage and Mash with sausages and leek mash, or the Chicken Gorwydd Glas, which is a chicken breast wrapped in streaky bacon and topped with a Gorwydd cheese sauce and served with seasonal vegetables and roast potatoes.
