About a mile northwest of the village of Falkland (on the A912), the Pillars of Hercules is an offshoot of its parent farm, so expect plenty of home-grown produce on the menu. The café is wholly organic & vegetarian, with rough-hewn decor that seems to have survived the wholefood 80s; there are also tables outside on the porch, & more over the road by the orchard if the weather holds. The food is pretty basic, with soup, toasties, sandwiches, paninis & salads as well as specials such as veggie 'shepherd’s pie' topped with parsnip mash, plus home-baked desserts. Kids are well accommodated & there’s a modest breakfast menu from 10am to noon. Off the beaten track & unlicensed.
