Following the trend for one-dish wonder restaurants, Soho’s latest is based on the nation’s perennial favourite: the cheese toastie. Not the plastic-y kind that sustained you through university, mind, this upmarket version uses Poilâne sourdough and generous quantities of West Country cheddar as a starting point for fillings such as cheesesteak and onion or ham hock with plenty of pickles. Open all day, pop in for a hangover-busting breakfast, takeaway lunch or dinner al desko – though if you have time to hang around, the comfortable interior makes it a good pit stop for a post-work beer.
