Pettigrew Tea Rooms

The Pettigrew Tea Rooms were opened in 2012 when there was a restoration of the listed building attached to Cardiff Castle, known as the West Lodge. The park was gifted to the people of Cardiff back in 1947, and has been a busy hotspot for Cardiff locals and visitors ever since. At the southern end of Bute Park, you'll stumble upon this beautiful vintage style tea room. Step inside and unwind from the busy city centre in the elegant surroundings as you indulge in the pleasure of tea time, or opt for a seat outside on the terrace with picturesque views of the river Taff. Whether choosing to dine from the lunch menu that features seasonal high tea options, warming up with a creamy hot chocolate with all the trimmings in the winter, or simply enjoying a slice of homemade cake as a mid day treat, every visit to Pettigrew Tea Rooms makes for a lovely experience with your loved ones.

For afternoon tea the chef will prepare a variety of sandwiches on bread of your choice. Choose from chicken mayonnaise with parmesan, salt beef with mustard mayo and gherkins, and Perl Wen brie and chutney, or the mature cheddar with country chutney, pickled cucumber and apple, or a vegan friendly harissa roasted squash with hummus and pickled red onion. Then, you can choose whether you'd like a sultana or plain scone served with clotted cream and strawberry preserve, before enjoying a slice of cake or sweet item from the tea room's selection. You'll of course get a non-alcoholic beverage from the menu, and we'd recommend getting a pot of one of the divine tea selections.
