Peppe is a Sicilian restaurant in Kingston that offers an impressive selection of antipasti, pasta, meat, seafood, pizza and sides, with friendly staff and a cosy atmosphere.
When Giuseppe Prestigiacomo packed up and left Sicily in 2001, he had one goal. To bring authentic Sicilian food that uses good-quality ingredients to the UK. Now, Giuseppe or ‘Peppe’ has fulfilled his goal. Nestled between the Thames and Richmond Park, the restaurant has a homely, trattoria feel on the inside, and the outside boasts a large seating area and transparent ‘dining domes’. Peppe also functions as an event space, wedding venue and has its own produce shop. The restaurant is also child-friendly, in fact, the team support state school fairs with fresh pizza from their very own pizza van. If Kingston is too far to travel for you, check out their Facebook page to see where they are catering next.
Following the menu’s six categories in the menu, you’ll find a wide choice of rustic Sicilian dishes. To nibble while you wait, opt for garlic pizza bread with mozzarella or arancini. The starter list brims with seafood, as well as fried chicken livers or oven-baked mushrooms with bechamel for veggies. Pasta dishes include seafood, wild mushroom or even pork rib, belly and sausage. Sicilian meat courses are hearty and warming, and Peppe follows this tradition with veal escalopes, breadcrumbed steak or Salsiccia and bean stew. The seafood highlights include oven-roasted swordfish, pan-fried king prawns and grilled sea bream with roast potatoes. There are also a couple of side options such as salads, chips and mixed vegetables.
No Sicilian menu is complete without pizza, and Peppe has a strong selection with different sizes to suit your hunger level. The wine list matches the food menu: a wide range of options for all types of guests. For connoisseurs, visit the “nostra cantina” page for more extravagant options.
