Patisserie queen and cake designer extraordinaire Peggy Porschen put her considerable decorating skills to good use when she created this ‘pretty parlour’ on the corner of Ebury Street and Elizabeth Street. Decked out in a razzle-dazzle mix of party pinks, chocolate browns and icing-sugar white, the tiny café bears more than a passing resemblance to the outrageously elaborate confections that have been scoffed by Elton John, Madonna and other A-listers down the years. Classic Victoria sponge, strawberry and Champagne layer cake and dark chocolate truffle cake share the billing with sexy cupcakes – vanilla chiffon, red velvet, sticky toffee, Black Fores, and so on. To sip, Porschen’s own-brand tea is served from cute polka-dot teapots, or if you're looking for something a little more decadent, why not a glass of Canard-Duchêne Léonie. Be warned: there are only a handful of tables, so you may have to wait a while for a slice of the celebrity high life.
