Anyone who wants a slice of the country but doesn’t have the heart to move should be well happy with the offerings at this farm shop, where they can browse the beautifully presented local and homegrown produce before taking a seat in the barn-like café or (if the sun’s shining) out on the terrace. Check the specials board for seasonal flavours, such as asparagus and new potato salad or dressed local crab, or look to the main menu for well-made, beautifully presented simple British cooking, including fishcakes, goats’ cheese tart with beetroot and red onion, and sausage and mash. Lovely homemade cakes and pastries are the basis for a dessert list as well as the no-holds-barred afternoon tea. Coffee and tea are of course on offer, but there’s wine and local ale for those who want it.
