Italian food is surely a staple in all of our diets, and with Ortica Italian Plant Based around, you don’t have to worry about giving it up for a plant-based diet. An independent, family-run restaurant in Urmston, Ortica has an entirely vegan Italian menu, created and cooked by a family from Molise in Italy, who moved to the UK in 2017.
We recommend you banish the thought of ‘boring’ vegan diets in general, but if you’re struggling to do so, you can wait for Ortica to show you what a hearty vegan Italian meal looks like. Just take a trip a little outside of Manchester’s city centre, and see what the independent restaurant has to offer you.
Ortica’s menu isn’t fixed, but we can give you a little flavour of what to expect if you choose the restaurant for your next Italian dinner. There’s rosemary focaccia with homemade Contadina peppers, wild broccoli and artichoke, and bruschetta with cannellini bean puree, porcini mushroom, and grated parmesan cheese. If you’re after something a little bigger, you’ll find the likes of homemade lasagna, and an impressive pizza selection of both tomato and mozzarella bases.
Ortica has the occasional seasonal specials on its menu, for instance an exciting Autumn special pizza with a red cabbage and red onion base, topped off with mozzarella, potatoes, and pumpkin cream. Far from your standard Italian menu…
If vegan isn’t your only dietary requirement, you’ll be pleased to know that Ortica also has a gluten free menu, on which you’ll find the likes of aubergine parmigiana, pesto gnocchi, a caprese salad, and a selection of pizzas.
Beyond these dishes, the restaurant is also sometimes open from 10 in the morning, serving up pastries and hot drinks.
For an authentic, filling, and entirely vegan Italian meal, Ortica Italian Plant Based is more than likely to hit the spot.
