Brighton isn’t exactly short of brunch places, with its buzzy streets and bustling lanes filled to the rafters with places to grab a cake and some coffee or a plate of eggs on toast. So, while it might not be difficult to source a little morning fuel in this seaside town, deciphering the great from the good can prove a little tricky. Enter: Nowhere Man. Okay, it might not have the most refined plates you’ve ever seen, but what it lacks in finesse it more than makes up for in sheer photo-opportunity-appeal and gutsy flavours.
This is exactly the sort of place you might want to head to in a group, to celebrate a birthday or hen do, or even somewhere you’d find is particularly soothing on a hangover. The reason being is that this vegan- and gluten-free-friendly café serves up epic stacks of pancakes and stuffed bagels all day until 4pm that have become pretty legendary.
There are regulars ever-present on the menu, but also a rotating line-up of specials like the Pancake Day spin on Jaffa Cakes which saw three fluffy pancakes piled up with orange curd, candied orange peel, chocolate chips and chocolate sauce. Now, if that doesn’t scream dream breakfast, we’re not sure what will. Classics include things like banana and chocolate, white chocolate and raspberry, and blueberry. If you don’t have a sweet tooth though, there are also savoury options that include bacon and eggs served beside your stack.
If you’re in the mood for something a little more lunch-like then the range of bagels should hit the spot. These are stuffed with fillings like salt beef or halloumi, with plenty of plant-based options for both vegetarians and vegans too.
Completing the line-up is a roll-call of indulgent drinks that range from satisfyingly crisp iced coffees through to chilled beverages topped with generous amounts of whipped cream.
