Nomad Bar & Kitchen is in Gowerton, a small village four miles from Swansea. The decor combines an industrial chic feel with nods to the Mediterranean, most notably in the blue and white patterned tiled bar. Drawing inspiration from a rich journey of flavours that Sam discovered while travelling across Europe, Nomad Bar & Kitchen offers customers a selection of delicious dishes that are sourced from small scale, artisanal producers rarely found elsewhere. Enjoy delicious small plates and tapas, or purchase them from the artisanal deli counter to enjoy at home. At Nomad, the team pays much attention to the principles of sustainability and transparency, using producers and products that are committed to shaping a brighter tomorrow. Co-founder Sam, armed with a formal education in catering, embarked on a journey across Greece, France, Austria, and Switzerland, which all added to his love of great food. Inspired by these travels, the Nomad concept was born, with a mission to reimagine European cuisine through the lens of sustainability and culinary finesse, rooted in a profound understanding of food and its ethical production.
Starting off are the bar snacks, like the Spanish gordal or chupadedo olives, or the fresh cut air dried serrano ham, or local deep fried Penclawdd cockles in a lightly salted batter. Classic small plates on the menu include the homemade traditional Syrian falafel and tzatziki, jamon and manchego croquettas, and Gower pasture fed beef meatballs in a tomato sauce. Also on the menu is organic Welsh halloumi with a spicy chilli relish, Spanish anchovies in oil, lemon and vinegar, and delicious home baked focaccia with ev Greek olive oil and balsamic. Seasonal specials are the real stars of the show, which change depending on what ingredients are in season. There is plenty to choose from, like the Welsh rarebit with laverbread, piri piri parsnips with homemade hummus, and savoyarde tartiflette with reblochon.
