Fans of food, shopping and drink rejoice! The Market Halls brand is coming to intu Lakeside in Essex, with a 175,000ft extension to the shopping centre.
The new food hall will be named, ‘The Hall’ and is the third Market Hall site in the UK. Previous openings include the Fulham and Victoria branches in London, with another branch coming to the West End this summer.

Andy Lewis-Pratt, CEO of Market Halls said: “This is an exciting avenue for Market Halls. The Hall will provide a new and vibrant social dining option for the 20 million visitors to intu Lakeside every year.”
The Hall will include seven new kitchens, a coffee shop, a pop-up area for food trucks, and two bars. There are no details at the moment on which restaurants will be featured at The Hall, but Market Halls say they will be bringing ‘dynamic and independent food traders from across the South-East’.
The food traders are yet to be announced
Previous iterations at Fulham and Victoria both featured Super Tacos, Fanny’s Kebabs, Press Coffee, and The Bar. However, the images released for The Hall show burgers and pizzas that look very similar to fried chicken eatery Butchies, and pizza purveyor Made of Dough at the Fulham Market Hall. Nothing is confirmed yet, but might they be part of the trader line up?
The new food hall at intu Lakeside will also feature seating for 680 dinners, and a private function space. The Hall also boasts all-day dining, from breakfast to late-night snacks. Other elements to intu Lakeside’s new £72 million leisure extension includes a Nickelodeon entertainment centre for families, a Puttshack mini golf experience, a Hollywood Bowl venue, a new nine-screen Vue cinema, and indoor trampolining experience, Flipout.
The Hall is expected to open in late spring 2019.
