Coffee and sandwich shop chain Pret a Manger has launched a brand new coffee subscription service, offering customers up to five coffees a day for just £20 a month.
Customers simply have to register for the service on Pret's website, and after subscribing will be a sent a QR code by email which can be scanned every time they want a hot drink. Cold drinks such as iced coffees, frappes, and smoothies are also included in the deal.
The £20 price point means that if you were to take full advantage of the service every day of the month, you would be paying the equivalent of just 13p per drink. As if this wasn't good enough value already, if you sign up to the service at the moment, you get your first month completely free.
Beyond the restriction of a maximum of five drinks a day, the only other rule is that you can only order one drink every 30 minutes, meaning that you can't get coffees for you and a friend at the same time.
Director of coffee and packaging for Pret, Briony Raven said: "It’s Pret’s way of doing loyalty. It’s about giving people an easy choice when they come back into their everyday routine."
Pret is hoping that the service will give the chain a much-needed boost after being hit hard by the pandemic. The company has already been forced to close 30 branches and make a third of its workforce redundant, and with many city centres remaining empty, there is still a distinct lack of business from passing commuters.
Pret also recently announced the launch of an all-new vegan bakery concept, which features plant-based versions of many of the chain's classic baked goods.
