Songstress Mariah Carey has been revealed as the face of Walker’s crisps new Christmas campaign which will air in November.
In an unlikely partnership, the 49-year-old singer has teamed up with the snack brand to add a glamorous touch to their Christmas advert. It should come as no surprise that the first promotional images to be launched for the campaign don’t show Carey tucking into a bag of Salt & Vinegar on her couch.
Instead, the ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ singer stands at the forefront of a snowy winter landscape which includes Christmas trees with bundles of wrapped presents underneath them. She is dressed in a figure-hugging red sequinned gown while proudly clutching a bag of Ready Salted Walkers crisps, with her look being finished off by a dazzling diamond bracelet and the sort of over-the-top earrings that wouldn’t look out of place on Pat Butcher’s dressing table.
Talking about the campaign, Carey said: “Everyone knows how festive I am, and it’s been fun getting into the holiday spirit this year with Walkers crisps - they’re irresistible! I can’t say too much about the campaign yet, but there may be some fun twists at the end!”
Although the singer has had a long-lasting and successful career with hit songs such as ‘We Belong Together’ and ‘Touch My Body’, her best known hit is her perennially popular Christmas song, ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’. Released in 1994, the smash hit song is still heard on radios across the country every Christmas and Carey is rumoured to make £376,000 every year from royalties for the song alone.
The pop diva appears to take her mega fortune seriously, with it being reported that Walkers have paid her a cool £9 million pounds to front their festive campaign.
